MS - 64 $1 Peace Silver Dollars NGC/PCGS Certified

Considered one of the most beautiful coins ever produced by the United States Mint, Peace Silver Dollars have been a coveted collector coins since the first day they were released. Although seldom seen they remain highly prized by both coin collectors and silver investors these days. Originally Peace Silver Dollars were minted to commemorate the end of the "war to end all wars," World War I.

Designed by Anthony De Francisci, a renowned medalist of the time, his monogram is located in the field of the coin under the neck of Lady Liberty. The obverse is Lady Liberty modeled by the designer's wife. The reverse of the coin features a bald eagle at rest clutching an olive branch and the word PEACE from which the silver dollar takes its name.

Peace Silver Dollars were struck in Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco. Each coin contains .77344 ounces of pure Silver, and they can have a range of dates and mint marks. There are a total of 26 coins in the program with a combined mintage of 190,612,680. These coins will have a range of dates (normally in the early 1920’s) and each one has been slabbed and certified by PCGS/NGC in MS – 65 condition.

They come to us packaged in NGC/PCGS certified boxes of 20 and if you're looking for a specific year or mint mark call 1-800-928-6468.

Description

Details

Each Peace Dollar was minted from .77344 troy oz of silver (about three quarters of an ounce.) Peace Dollars in pristine mint condition are far more highly valued by collectors for their state of preservation and rarity. The higher the grade on a scale of 1 to 70, the more valued they are today.

The best way to start a collection is to put away the nicest examples you can comfortably afford. On the official grading scale of 1 - 70, these have officially met all the standards of gem quality MS-65 and are graded by either PCGS or NGC.

Own A Piece of America's Silver Coinage

Sadly, this was the last United States Silver Dollar struck for circulation. Over the decades, the vast majority of Peace Silver Dollars were never released from the U.S. Mint vaults. When silver prices exploded in the 1960's the U.S. Treasury recalled all circulating silver dollars, halves, quarters, and dimes where millions were melted down and destroyed forever. The survivors that exist today in MS-64 are only a tiny fraction of the total struck making them highly desired by collectors, especially the rarer dates. Each Peace Silver Dollar in this offering has been handpicked for quality and eye appeal. The limited production and high silver content make these highly attractive to investors and collectors alike- especially at today's prices.

Each Peace Dollar in this release have all been independently inspected and certified by the uncompromising standards of Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) or Numismatic Guarantee Corporation (NGC) and are guaranteed to be in a MS-64 condition.

In God We TrVst Misspelled?

One unique feature on the Peace Dollar is the odd inscription of the motto in God We Trust, instead of using the Arabic spelling the designer De Francisci instead used the Latin version in which the letter V is substituted for U. This unique motto is just one of many details that set Peace Dollars apart from other coins produced by the United States Mint.
